Balearics
The Balearics bring very different reads between Palma de Mallorca, Alcúdia and Formentera: deep capes, rocky coves, caves, mixed bottoms and strong local exposure. Cap Andritxol and Cap Blanc work with drops, caves, bream, dentex or grouper, but south and southwest matter. In Alcúdia, Cap des Pinar / La Victoria and Cap de Formentor need a read of Gregal, Tramuntana and north exposure. Formentera adds Es Caló des Mort and Platja de Migjorn, friendlier only if they remain outside Freus and the south is quiet.
The main window runs from late spring through autumn, with a very local wind read. South affects Cap Blanc and Platja de Migjorn; southwest reaches Cap Andritxol; Gregal, Tramuntana and north exposure matter around La Victoria and Formentor. After several calm Mediterranean days, rock, sand and Posidonia bottoms can clear. With swell from the wrong sector, attractive coves stop being easy entries.
The Balearics require the comunidad's recreational sea-fishing licence; check sizes, quotas, closed seasons and closed zones island by island. Cap Enderrocat i cap Blanc and Badies de Pollença i Alcúdia are listed as Natura 2000 marine zones with restrictions, not total bans. Some points are described outside reserves such as Ponent or Freus, so the exact boundary matters. Before entering, confirm the zone, permitted uses and possible local closures.
Cap Blanc and Cap de Formentor are the most advanced points because of depth and exposure. Es Caló des Mort is more semi-sheltered and easy, but must remain outside Freus. Cap Andritxol sits outside Ponent and mixes drops with caves; La Victoria faces north and northeast.
