The verdict comes from seven water factors and hard safety gates — not ten tabs. Go or stay.
Our own model
Our own forecast engine — not a third-party widget. It weighs these water factors into one go-or-stay verdict for this coast; the 0–10 dial is that verdict, read out as a number.
Safety gates
It all folds into a single 0–10 score and one verdict: go or stay.
A forecast, not a guarantee — the sea has the last word.

Visibility and what drives it — post-storm clearing, river plume, temperature and the thermocline.
spearo.app folds wind, wave, swell period, visibility, tides, water temperature and risk into a single verdict — go to the spot or not. It computes 7 days ahead from open marine models (Open-Meteo, IPMA), with no sign-up and no accounts. Built for solo spearfishing off the rocks, where any mistake costs dearly.
Now live: 3094 spots across 421 stretches of coast — mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores.

The models set the window. Whether you go in is read only at the water: count the sets, watch the surge on the entry. If in doubt, you don't get in.
Scouted entries, coloured by today. The colour is the sea state at the spot, not a guarantee: the wash and a slippery entry you judge on site.

Google MapsSOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.

Rules change. Check them with MEWA before you dive. The forecast here is for freediving and snorkelling.
Salwa has rock entry points such as Jazirat `Unaybir. Shore of the hypersaline, very shallow Gulf of Salwa with sabkha flats, at the Qatar border. Below you'll find each spot (access, shelter and hazards) and today's forecast.
October–May; summer brings 40 °C+ heat, haze and 32–35 °C water. The shamal (Nov–Mar, Jun–Jul) stirs the shallow Gulf — the clearest water comes in calm spells of spring and autumn.
16–20 °C in winter, 32–35 °C in summer; visibility 2–6 m, up to 8–10 m on the reefs in calm spells.
Easy–moderate: shallow and warm, but heat, shipping and murky water.
Salwa: Per a MEWA statement reported in the press (April 2024), 'marine pistols' (spearguns) are prohibited gear and using them violates the Agriculture Law (Royal Decree M/64). We have not read the article itself — check with MEWA. The forecast here is for freediving and snorkelling. Per MEWA, coral grouper (najil) and parrotfish (taradi) are closed on the Red Sea from 1 April to 31 May; check this year's dates with MEWA. Per the MEWA rules cited by KAUST, all sharks, marine mammals, sea turtles, corals, sponges, seahorses, sea urchins, shells, pearl oysters, sea cucumbers and ornamental fish are protected, and so are giant grouper, humphead (Napoleon) wrasse, sawfish and hammerheads; check the full list with MEWA. Farasan Islands and the Jubail marine wildlife sanctuary are protected areas (NCW); we did not find the act that sets their fishing rules — check with NCW before you dive. Per the abstract of the Interior Ministry's safety regulation, MEWA issues fishing and diving licences and sets the areas together with the Border Guard; check with MEWA before you dive from a boat.
