Open the seafloor mapFrom the parking on the Ellenbogen toll road, walk about 200 m to the beach and enter from the sand. Fine white sand drops steeply only about 15 m from shore, to around 12 m. Strong tidal currents — dive in the hour around high water before the ebb starts, with a line to shore. Spearfishing not permitted here — check local rules.

The shallow shore suits snorkelling; further out, concrete coastal-protection blocks hold crabs, starfish, eels and bass from about 5 m. Spearfishing is banned in German coastal waters: Schleswig-Holstein (Küstenfischereiverordnung 2018, § 9(1)), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (KüFVO M-V, § 16(1)) and Lower Saxony (Fisheries Act, § 44(1) no. 5) prohibit spears and harpoons for any fishing, at any hour. The Helgoland rock-base reserve and the Jasmund National Park strip are closed to all fishing. Forecasts here are for freediving and snorkelling; leave the speargun at home.
