Google MapsSOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.

Check the cam BEFORE you leave. Foam, brown/green murk, or waves washing the entry rocks = No-go. At night/in fog the cam is useless — treat it as «unknown», NOT «green».
Rules change and vary by state. Before heading out, check on gov.br (recreational licence, MPA) and the state closed seasons/sizes; apnea only, goliath grouper is banned.
In Porto de Galinhas, the first answer is exclusion. The shoreline natural pools are protected, shallow and busy with tourist rafts, so they are not spearfishing spots. The possible plan is deeper open reef outside the pools and outside no-take areas of APA Costa dos Corais, with local depth stated at 5 to 12 m and water at 27 to 30 °C. MERO TOTAL MORATORIUM applies: goliath grouper is banned. You need the gov.br recreational licence, with fee exemptions limited to accompanied minors and men 65+/women 60+, and legal spearfishing is apnea only.
Keep the list intentionally narrow. A natural pool is not a hunting point, and an APA name is not permission. If you cannot confirm that you are outside a no-take area, do not hunt.

Warm water is not the hard part; legality and tide are. The local range is 27 to 30 °C, while Northeast mesotides move water across reef lines and change safe access. Use the beach camera for water color and crowd, not as legal clearance. National rules are strict enough: gov.br licence required, apnea only, no scuba spearing, and goliath grouper fully banned. Treat uncertain protected limits as closed.
