The verdict comes from seven water factors and hard safety gates — not ten tabs. Go or stay.
Our own model
Our own forecast engine — not a third-party widget. It weighs these water factors into one go-or-stay verdict for this coast; the 0–10 dial is that verdict, read out as a number.
Safety gates
It all folds into a single 0–10 score and one verdict: go or stay.
A forecast, not a guarantee — the sea has the last word.

Visibility and what drives it — post-storm clearing, river plume, temperature and the thermocline.
spearo.app folds wind, wave, swell period, visibility, tides, water temperature and risk into a single verdict — go to the spot or not. It computes 7 days ahead from open marine models (Open-Meteo, IPMA), with no sign-up and no accounts. Built for solo spearfishing off the rocks, where any mistake costs dearly.
Now live: 1391 spots across 205 stretches of coast — mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores.
See all spotsRelief and bottom type, tides, and the depths of each spot.
The models set the window. Whether you go in is read only at the water: count the sets, watch the surge on the entry. If in doubt, you don't get in.
Scouted entries, coloured by today. The colour is the sea state at the spot, not a guarantee: the wash and a slippery entry you judge on site.

Google MapsSouth sheltered edge, rock 0–15 m, shore; 'like a lake', calm. Coords approx. ⛔ The mark lies INSIDE diving-ban area E28 (annex to BKK 2016/8743; Tebliğ 2024/21 md. 17(3)) — on the CONSERVATIVE boundary: the seaward edge is the act's own coordinates, the shore-side edge is our chord (Türkiye publishes no official coastline), so the mark may be inside the act or only inside our chord. Check with the local liman başkanlığı before you go.

Google MapsIsland wade along an ancient causeway, rock 0–15 m, shore; WARNING: do not fish over the Myndos ruins. Verified coord. ⛔ The mark lies 101 m OUTSIDE the drawn edge of diving-ban area tr-dive-e28 — but that edge is ours: a straight chord between the act's own shore vertices, not the shoreline. The feature's own note names the direction of the error: on an indented shore the chord cuts across water the act encloses, so the DRAWN ban is SMALLER than the legal one. Outside our chord is not outside the act; the mark is flagged closed. Check with the local liman başkanlığı before you go.

Google MapsSOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.
Cameras, map and reference — to hand as you come up.
Gümüşlük combines calm water with heritage caution. The inner side is described as sheltered, almost lake-like, with 8-12 m visibility, while the outer points take the meltemi. Tavşan Adası is reached on foot along the ancient causeway, but the ancient harbour of Myndos is a first-degree SIT; anchoring has been penalised, no direct fishing ban was found, yet the status is sensitive and undefined, so do not fish over ruins. The north cape toward Koyunbaba is 0-20 m rock/deep edge and exposed; Karabakla is the quieter southern 0-15 m rock edge. Legally, the local calm changes nothing: since 1 January 2026 the Amatör Balıkçı Belgesi must show the diving method, with breath-hold only and no night spearfishing.
Tavşan Adası is the heritage-sensitive row, the north cape is the meltemi-exposed one, and Karabakla is the sheltered southern edge. Good visibility is not permission to fish over Myndos ruins.
| Spot | Type | Depth | Level | Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tavşan Adası | Rocky shore | 0-15m | Intermediate | Shore | Island reached by the ancient causeway, 0-15 m rock; do not fish over the Myndos ruins and verify the sensitive local status. |
| North cape toward Koyunbaba | Rocky point | 0-20m | Experienced | Shore or boat | North cape toward Koyunbaba, 0-20 m rock/deep edge; shore or boat, exposed to the meltemi. |
| Karabakla | Rock/sand shore | 0-15m | Intermediate | Shore | South sheltered rock edge, 0-15 m from shore; local notes describes this side as lake-like calm. |
Archaeology and wind. Around Tavşan Adası, the Myndos SIT makes local confirmation and avoiding ruins the first rule. Outside, the meltemi hits the points while the inner water can stay sheltered; the islet channel also has current. Keep the national permit, breath-hold method and night ban in the same pre-dive check.
Rules change and the 6/2 tebliğ renews in September 2028. Before heading out, check with the district agriculture directorate (il/ilçe müdürlüğü) and the coast guard (Sahil Güvenlik); as a tourist, get the permit or go with a licensed guide.
No. local notes say the area is sensitive/undefined and should be verified locally; do not fish over ruins.
Karabakla and the inner side are the sheltered read; the north cape takes the meltemi.
The Amatör Balıkçı Belgesi must include the diving method from 1 January 2026.
No. Use breath-hold only.
No. The national night ban applies here as well.
