Our own model
Our own forecast engine — not a third-party widget. It weighs these water factors into one go-or-stay verdict for this coast; the 0–10 dial is that verdict, read out as a number.
Safety gates
It all folds into a single 0–10 score and one verdict: go or stay.
A forecast, not a guarantee — the sea has the last word.
Gdje ući i gdje tražiti ribu
Vjetar, val i prozori mrtvog mora — kada krenuti i najbolji sati.

Google MapsWreck of the Crested Eagle (troop transport sunk in 1940) off Zuydcoote beach, ~5 km to the east; sandy bottom, shallow, shore entry at low tide; bass and flatfish on the structure, poor visibility. ⚠️ historic wreck — take nothing.
Google MapsSOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.
Kamere, karta i referenca — pri ruci dok izranjaš.
Rules change. Exact distances from beaches/ports and seasonal closures are set by the local préfecture maritime — check its arrêté and the DIRM/OFB zone map before heading out.
Dunkirk has rock entry points such as Digue de Malo-les-Bains and Épave du Crested Eagle (Zuydcoote). Let's be honest: Dunkirk is a marginal spot. Below you'll find each spot (access, shelter and hazards) and today's forecast.
Narrow window: summer (June–September), when the N wind eases. But this is macro-tidal (up to ~8 m range) — plan around slack water, not just the season: on the flood/ebb the current sweeps you off.
Cold Channel water: ~7–9 °C in winter, ~17–18 °C in August. You need a 7 mm hooded suit, gloves and boots year-round. Modest visibility, best on the flood slack.
Technical: the macro-tides and currents demand discipline — dive on slack, never solo. For those who can read a tide table; the cold water weeds out casuals.
No paid licence in Dunkirk — but third-party (RC) insurance is MANDATORY, and since 10/01/2026 a free EU registration + catch declaration (RECFishing app) applies from age 16. Breath-hold only (no scuba), buoy mandatory, no night; sizes by coast (bar 42 Atl. / 30 Med.), grouper and corb banned in the Med. See the guide.
