Naš vlastiti motor prognoze — nije widget treće strane. Vaga ove čimbenike vode u jednu presudu «ići ili ne» za ovu obalu; brojčanik od 0 do 10 upravo je ta presuda, iskazana brojem.

Valovi i pamćenje mora: Visina, period i smjer valova, uz trag nedavnih oluja — stara oluja još muti vodu, a motor to pamti.
Vjetar i udari: Brzina i udari, sat po sat — jačina vjetra i pritisak s pučine razbijaju površinu i režu vidljivost.
Faza plime: Vrijeme i raspon plime, kalibrirani po obali — velike sizigijske plime vuku presudu prema oprezu.
Temperatura mora: Temperatura površine — izrazito hladno more stavlja veto na zelenu presudu.
Struje i istjecanje: Smjer i snos struje — nosi te i vuče mutnu priobalnu vodu onamo gdje roniš.
Oborine i prozirnost zraka: Kiša muti vodu uz obalu ispiranjem s kopna, a magla i sumaglica režu vidljivost na površini.
Oblik obale i izloženost: Kako je obala okrenuta prema valovima — zaklonjena uvala drži vodu bistrom; izloženi rt na udaru dobiva kaznu.

prozor: With Tramontana in the forecast the useful window shortens by itself, long before sunset. At Agropoli the bathing season changes the usable distances far more than the sea ever does. The bathing season narrows the options: out of season the stretch is whole again. The last stretch, the 700 m out to ten metres of water, is the one you will swim tired: put it in the day's arithmetic.
plima: The current you will find towards the north will nearly always be wind-driven and not tidal. In a hard Tramontana the level rises more than any spring tide manages. At Agropoli the tide calendar is no substitute for reading the sea. With the shore 10 m from the mark, the alongshore current counts for more than any table.
zaklon: In a bay like this the shelter is a few tens of metres wide, tucked against the windward point rather than in the middle of the arc, and in a hard Tramontana not even that. The coast here runs E–W and opens to the north: that is what decides which forecast to read. The 700 m that separate the shore from ten metres of water tell you how much sea it takes to ruin the day. At Agropoli whoever gets in first checks, whoever gets in out of habit is trusting yesterday.

prozor: At Agropoli as anywhere else, the hours of the session are the hours of the sun. With ten metres of water 670 m from the shore, the band where you meet the local orders is all of it right here. With the 610 m that separate you from five metres of water, the return in daylight is planned from the start. A trip done properly starts with checking the day's rules.
plima: The level barely moves: the 10 m contour stays 670 m from the shore at any hour of the day. At Agropoli the tidal cycle shows in the thread of current and not in the level of the water. The ten-metre line, 670 m offshore, does not move with the level: it moves with the swell. With Ponente strengthening the inshore current picks up before the swell does.
zaklon: The good sector is the one opposite the opening: from the east the water stays still even in a steady blow. On the point at Agropoli it is the flank that gives you the shelter, not the general lie of the coast. Better half an hour on the right part of the coast than three hours on the wrong one. If you get in as Ponente is easing, remember the sea stays up a day longer than the wind.
uvjeti: With 75 m reached about 5900 m out, the limit of the day is set by your breath and not by the distance. The useful band lies between the 670 m of the ten-metre line and the 560 m of the twenty: that strip is where you work. By 670 m from the shore you already know whether it is worth going on. Past 670 m from the shore it is the water that decides the day and not the willingness.
opasnost: At Agropoli it is the point that takes first what the rest of the shoreline feels an hour later. The marker has to follow you even when you are working 670 m from the shore: 50 m from the vertical below it is the legal maximum. The surface marker is not there for you: it is there for whoever is coming. Mind the proximity of the Santa Maria di Castellabate AMP, 0 km: inside the zoning the rules change completely.
pristup: Under the shore the bottom is what you see from above, 30 m from the coastline. At Agropoli the point is reached on foot, and the long part of the day is the part out of the water. With Ponente strengthening the exit is brought forward, not discussed. Count the 610 m that separate you from the five-metre contour: they are the measure of the way back.
