- DPR 1639/1968 dates from 1968 and is still the reference text: it is not a historical detail. Between the shore and five metres of water there are 120 m: that is the stretch you want to cover in good light. In doubt, ask the local Capitaneria beforehand and not afterwards. At Golfo Aranci a short legal window beats a long questionable one.

- At Golfo Aranci the tidal cycle shows in the thread of current and not in the level of the water. The tide is felt more in narrow channels than in front of an open shore. If the current is faster than your easy pace, it is already too much. The direction of the current changes with the wind of the last few hours.

- The coast here runs NE–SW and opens to the northwest: that is what decides which forecast to read. The bay works like a funnel: with the swell in the mouth the water inside dirties, and it stays dirty after the wind has dropped. Before getting in, look at where you will come out if the wind turns: the exit is not always the entry. At Golfo Aranci the swell forecast matters more than the wind forecast on this stretch.

- If you cannot see the bottom 120 m out, the day is over before it starts. With 20 m at 380 m from the entry you go from inshore water to outside water without any real transit. In Maestrale the suspension stays inshore; in Scirocco it is gone in half a day. At Golfo Aranci the good days are few and have to be taken when they come.
