Google MapsIslets off the western face of Espíritu Santo, sheltered from the prevailing NW, 5–22 m, 25–30 km by panga from La Paz. This is subzone ASRN-1, where sport fishing is by rod and spear — the no-take cores are San Gabriel, La Bonanza and Los Islotes.

La Paz bölgesinde Isla Cerralvo (Jacques Cousteau), La Reina (faro, N de Cerralvo) ve El Bajo (seamount, ~20 mi N) gibi kayadan giriş noktaları var. La Paz is Mexico's spearfishing capital: Isla Cerralvo (Jacques Cousteau), El Bajo and outer banks yield cubera snapper, tuna and wahoo. The heart of Mexican spearfishing: best late spring and autumn (Oct–Nov), warm clear water. The north has macro-tides — short windows, dive the slack.
Seasonal, ~18–30 °C — 3 mm in summer, 5 mm in winter. The 'Aquarium of the World': very clear in the south (La Ventana/La Paz), colder to the north.
Mixed: the south (La Paz/La Ventana) is warm and beginner-friendly; the north has macro-tides and strong current — experienced only.
In La Paz spearfishing is legal but breath-hold only (freediving — NOM-017-PESC-1994 §4.5; no scuba/hookah), and an individual CONAPESCA permit is ALWAYS required, including from shore. Fish only (no lobster, conch or octopus — squid excepted), max 5 fish/day, 250 m off swimmers and boats. Dorado, marlin, sailfish and roosterfish are reserved for rod-and-reel in the 50-mile belt — better not to spear them. Yucatán grouper closed 1 Feb–31 Mar; totoaba permanent no-take. See the guide.
