WARNING: no public source gives its exact position — the pin keeps the longitude on record and has come off the headland it stood on into the water offshore. Confirm the site with your skipper before you drop. Coords approximate.
Google MapsSmall, calm cove of rock, reef and sand down to about 18 m, with turtles and eagle rays; used for night dives and for beginners. ⚠️ The real site is 1.5 km from the pier, by the lighthouse at the bay mouth — the pin sits 6 km northwest, off the hotels.

İspanya⚠️ Three sites under one name. The pin now sits in the water southwest of Isla Ixtapa (Isla Grande); Zacatoso is a separate ~12 m reef facing the hotel strip and Las Gatas is a beach inside Zihuatanejo bay, 13 km southeast — neither of them is this point. 3–18 m.

Google MapsA site the operators register as 'El Chato', 40 min from the Zihuatanejo pier: a broad spread of rocky reef with coral patches, 7–21 m, holding turtles, schooling fish and nudibranchs. It is a separate structure from Caleta de Chon, despite the similar name.
Google MapsBajo Sacramento as the Mexican Navy's sailing directions give it: 3 to 20 m over a patch 0.5 by 0.3 nautical miles about 1.6 km offshore, picked out by the surf breaking on rocks that stand above the water. Warm water year-round; best in the dry, calm windows. In the SE (Tehuantepec) winter nortes shut the water down; murky near the rivermouths.
Warm, ~24–29 °C — rashguard or 2–3 mm. Rivers murk the shore after rain; clearer off the rocky points.
Intermediate: warm water, but hunting is off rocky points in swell; murky at rivermouths.
In Zihuatanejo spearfishing is legal but breath-hold only (freediving — NOM-017-PESC-1994 §4.5; no scuba/hookah), and an individual CONAPESCA permit is ALWAYS required, including from shore. Fish only (no lobster, conch or octopus — squid excepted), max 5 fish/day, 250 m off swimmers and boats. Dorado, marlin, sailfish and roosterfish are reserved for rod-and-reel in the 50-mile belt — better not to spear them. Yucatán grouper closed 1 Feb–31 Mar; totoaba permanent no-take. See the guide.
