- The orders of the Capitaneria responsible for Gallipoli can add seasonal prohibitions, and they outrank the general rule. The useful day is the one where permission, light and sea fall in the same window. The last stretch, the 500 m out to ten metres of water, is the one you will swim tired: put it in the day's arithmetic. The bathing season narrows the options: out of season the stretch is whole again.

- High water pushed by Libeccio counts for more than a spring tide. The tide chapter on this coast is marginal, though not entirely absent. If the current takes you past the 500 m of the ten-metre line, head straight back for land. At Gallipoli the level changes little, but the current towards the southwest can be noticeable in the channels.
- καταφύγιο
- On the point at Gallipoli it is the flank that gives you the shelter, not the general lie of the coast. You are in the lee in Grecale; the moment the wind goes southwest, the water under the shore dirties. Dead swell from the southwest arrives under a clear sky and no wind at all. If the swell starts working inside the 610 m of coastal strip, the session is over.
- συνθήκες
- A slope this gentle, twenty metres at 1600 m, holds sand in suspension long after the swell. At Gallipoli the clarity is built on the days without swell, not on the hours without wind. Come back with margin: tiredness takes your judgement before it takes your strength. In Libeccio the suspension stays inshore; in Grecale it is gone in half a day.
- κίνδυνος
- Rounding the point is easy on the way out and hard on the way back: the tiredness comes with the sea against you. The 500 m from used beaches starts at the water's edge, which is 40 m from here: in summer it is the first calculation to make. At Gallipoli floating lines are seen late: keep an eye above you as well. Go down less deep than you could: the margin is the only real safety.
- πρόσβαση
- The mark is right against the shore, 40 m from the coastline, and ten metres of water is about 500 m out. The walk out along the point is short; the problem is the last metre. With Libeccio strengthening the exit is brought forward, not discussed. At Gallipoli the return is planned on the afternoon swell, not on the morning one.
