A wall running northwest to southeast about 1.1 km from the Norah Head ramp, north-west of Bull Rocks, strewn with hundreds of boulders. Reached only by boat. A dive log notes large schools of luderick. Around 15.5 to 24 m by bathymetry.
SOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.
Rules change and vary BY STATE. Before heading out, check with your state's fisheries (NSW DPI, Fisheries QLD, VFA, DPIRD WA, PIRSA, NRE Tas, NT Fisheries) and the marine-park zoning map.
Budgewoi has rock entry points such as Corinne's Canyon and The Boulders (Norah Head). Budgewoi faces east-south-east and is open from the east-north-east round to the south. Below you'll find each spot (access, shelter and hazards) and today's forecast.
Autumn–early winter — clearest on an offshore W wind; summer warm but variable.
Summer 19–23 °C — 3 mm suit; winter 15–17 °C — 5 mm. Urban reefs.
Moderate: urban reefs; boat traffic, needs an offshore wind.
Budgewoi is in NSW. Yes — NSW requires a Recreational Fishing Licence (~AUD 35/yr), and the eastern blue groper has been protected from the spear since 1969.
