Check the cam BEFORE you leave. Foam, brown/green murk, or waves washing the entry rocks = No-go. At night/in fog the cam is useless — treat it as «unknown», NOT «green».
Rules change. Exact distances from beaches/ports and seasonal closures are set by the local préfecture maritime — check its arrêté and the DIRM/OFB zone map before heading out.
Spearfishing in Boulogne-sur-Mer is a practical, not pretty, plan. The harbour itself is out; the usable water is on outer rip-rap and rocky ledges at Le Portel, Équihen and Pointe aux Oies. Depths are modest, but macrotidal current and suspended sediment set the risk. A sea forecast Boulogne-sur-Mer check should look for small swell, dry easterly wind and slack water. Legally, no licence or declaration is needed, but insurance is mandatory and hunting is breath-hold only.

This is macrotidal Channel water. Slack matters, and so does visibility after calm weather. A dry easterly can help; west swell quickly dirties the ledges. For freediving Boulogne-sur-Mer, keep the plan short, carry insurance, use apnea only, stay out of ports and bathing zones, and check the local prefectural rules before relying on any ledge.
