Open in the appSOLO is the biggest risk: underwater you can black out from lack of oxygen silently and fatally, with no one around. Solo is never truly «safe». Below are the best weather windows; carry a buoy, tell someone your plan and exit time, and any doubt — don't go.

Check the cam BEFORE you leave. Foam, brown/green murk, or waves washing the entry rocks = No-go. At night/in fog the cam is useless — treat it as «unknown», NOT «green».
Spearfishing in Saint-Malo is governed by tide before fish. Spring ranges reach 12-13 m, and Grand Bé and Petit Bé are cut off by the flood, with frequent rescues. Pointe de la Varde is the reference mark: sand, kelp and rock, a circuit of about 1.5 km, and exit about 2 h before low water. Grand/Petit Bé is a low-water plan only. La Guimorais is tied to tidal coefficient, and Pointe du Décollé is holed rock with lobster, brown crab and conger. National rules add RC insurance, breath-hold only practice, no night hunting, and the 2026 registration plus catch declaration regime.
The keyword asks broadly, but Pointe du Grouin is not part of this set. The four marks below keep the article tied to confirmed names and tide warnings. Local webcams are surface checks only; no buoy station is available.

SpainRules change. Exact distances from beaches/ports and seasonal closures are set by the local préfecture maritime — check its arrêté and the DIRM/OFB zone map before heading out.

Saint-Malo is Channel macrotidal and has 12-13 m ranges on springs. That makes tide timing the first condition. At La Varde, exit about 2 h before low water. At Grand/Petit Bé, the flood cuts access. The cameras can show surface state, but there is no buoy station and no live visibility number.
The local warning is specific: Grand Bé and Petit Bé are cut off by the flood, with frequent rescues. Ferry traffic also runs off the walled town. This is why a Saint-Malo plan needs a return time before entry. If the route back is not fixed by the tide table, the spot is not ready.
There is no spring season for sea bass here. Bass appears at Pointe de la Varde and Grand/Petit Bé, then tide instructions take over. For the Channel façade, sea bass is 42 cm. Pollack is also 42 cm with a maximum of two per day on Atlantic/Channel. Mullet and conger also hold at these marks.
Yes. The France legal block says civil-liability insurance is mandatory, either standalone or through an FFESSM/FFPSA federation licence. It also says breath-hold only, no scuba or hookah, no night spearfishing, 16+ for a speargun, and from 10 Jan 2026 registration plus catch declaration.
Use Pointe de la Varde, Grand/Petit Bé, La Guimorais and Pointe du Décollé. Plan each one around tide timing.
The named species are bass, cuttlefish, wrasse, pollack, mullet, lobster, brown crab and conger. Sizes come from the Channel table.
There is no monthly sea-bass calendar. Use tide timing: La Varde exit about 2 h before low water and careful flood timing around the Bé islets.
No old-style spearfishing licence is required since 2009, but RC insurance is mandatory. From 10 Jan 2026, registration plus catch declaration applies.
In France, stay at least 150 m from vessels actively fishing. Spearfishing is also banned in ports, bathing zones and marine reserves.
