Rules change. Exact distances from beaches/ports and seasonal closures are set by the local préfecture maritime — check its arrêté and the DIRM/OFB zone map before heading out.
Trégastel has rock entry points such as Île Renote, Grève Blanche / Coz-Pors and Baie de Sainte-Anne. Neighbour to Perros-Guirec, Trégastel offers the most accessible pink granite: beaches, islets and the Île Renote tombolo. Below you'll find each spot (access, shelter and hazards) and today's forecast.
Summer (June–September). North Brittany is macro-tidal (8–10 m range): clear water and the entry both hinge on slack. The jagged coast gives shelter in almost any wind if you know the right cove.
Atlantic/Channel: ~10 °C in winter, ~17–18 °C in summer. A 7 mm hooded suit year-round. Clearer water than farther east down the Channel, especially at rocky capes on the flood slack.
Moderately technical: macro-tides, but the jagged coast offers plenty of sheltered entries. Plan on slack; knowing the local coves, it's doable for a confident beginner on a calm day.
No paid licence in Trégastel — but third-party (RC) insurance is MANDATORY, and since 10/01/2026 a free EU registration + catch declaration (RECFishing app) applies from age 16. Breath-hold only (no scuba), buoy mandatory, no night; sizes by coast (bar 42 Atl. / 30 Med.), grouper and corb banned in the Med. See the guide.
