Mostly summer (June–September), with rich marine life. But upwelling and the nortada can chill and cloud the water suddenly, and the Atlantic tides are big — factor in the tide and current.
Cold: ~13–19 °C, with upwelling dropping it in summer when the nortada blows. Expect a 7 mm suit + hood, gloves and boots for much of the year.
Demanding: a cold Atlantic coast with big tides that set up current and rocky entries. The rías offer sheltered corners, but reading the tide and current is a must — not a place to start when there's swell running.
