Open the seafloor mapThe pin lands on the beach by the San Blas estuary rather than on any bank: outflow from the Río San Cristóbal and Estero El Pozo keeps the water murky, worst from June to October. Panga from the harbour out to the rock banks, 3–8 m. Bring repellent — the no-see-ums are famous.
Google MapsVolcanic island ~40 nm offshore, 3–5 h by panga, rock drop-offs and boulder, 5–20 m. 🔴 Since January 2024 the surrounding water is a marine national park, and fishing exists only in whatever subzones the management programme allows. Treat it as closed: dive and look.
Google MapsBeach with rock outcrops at the north end of Bahía de Matanchén, 3–12 m, walk-in off the road. The bay is sandy with a long soft break: low relief and poor visibility. The pin sits inland in the village. Coords approx.

Spearfishing in San Blas depends on finding clean water away from the mangrove-tinted shoreline. The practical mainland options are Bancos de San Blas, shallow rock banks in 3-8 m by boat, and Las Islitas/Matanchén, a 3-12 m rocky reef outside reserves. Isla Isabel is not a spearfishing recommendation here: it is listed as an island park and protected reference, so treat it as no-shoot. Mexico requires a CONAPESCA/SADER permit, apnea only, one allowed speargun and a five-fish daily limit.
Keep the plan on mainland rock and cancel if visibility is not enough to identify fish, reef and exit.

Visibility is the main filter. San Blas has mangroves and often turbid nearshore water, so wait for settled sea and choose rock away from dirty runoff. Isla Isabel stays off the capture list because it is a protected island-park reference.
