A Costa Leste é o grande mosaico legal da pesca submarina americana. Do Maine à Geórgia, catorze estados com regras distintas — e a linha que mais importa é uma só pergunta: posso arpoar o robalo-riscado (striped bass)? A resposta muda de estado para estado, e errar custa multa e apreensão. Este guia arruma isso, percorre do frio Nordeste ao quente Sudeste, e liga-se à previsão diária de cada cidade.

O Nordeste (Maine→Connecticut) é água fria de 8–20 °C e alvos de estrutura: tautog, robalo-preto e fluke, sobre rocha e naufrágios; época de junho a outubro. O Médio Atlântico (NY→Virgínia) soma o robalo-riscado onde é legal e os famosos pilares do CBBT. O Sudeste (Carolinas, Geórgia) é mais quente e de naufrágios ao largo — sheepshead, cobia, e os naufrágios do Gulf Stream ao largo da Carolina do Norte.

O striped bass é o peixe-estrela do Nordeste — e a sua legalidade ao arpão é a armadilha clássica. Nunca generalizes; a regra é por estado:

Época, água e segurança

O Nordeste tem janela de junho a outubro, com a água a 12–20 °C em pleno verão e macromarés fortes no Maine — mergulha na estofa. O Sudeste estende-se a abril–novembro e dá a melhor visibilidade ao largo, sobre os naufrágios do Gulf Stream. Há tubarões no Sudeste: sem alarme, mas enfia a captura. A bandeira de mergulho é obrigatória e a distância varia por estado (NH 75 ft do mergulhador, MA 100 ft, RI 50 ft dos barcos, VA 25 jardas).

Barata ou grátis. Nova Iorque e Nova Jérsia têm registo grátis; Maine ~$1–2; Massachusetts $10 (60+ grátis); Rhode Island $7 res/$10 não res; Delaware $8.50/$20; Virgínia $17.50/$25; Florida $17/$47. A Carolina do Sul é a mais cara para quem vem de fora (~$75). A Nova Inglaterra tem reciprocidade (ME/MA/RI/CT/NY).

Onde estão os melhores naufrágios?

A Carolina do Norte (o «Graveyard of the Atlantic») e a Nova Jérsia têm campos densos de naufrágios; em NC, os do Gulf Stream ao largo dão água quente e limpa (20–28 °C). Rhode Island e Massachusetts têm naufrágios costeiros para tautog. Marca o ponto e verifica que não cai em zona no-take.

Preciso de estar submerso para arpoar?

Em Nova Jérsia e Delaware, sim: a lei exige estar «completamente submerso» — nada de disparar da superfície nem de um barco. Em Nova Iorque o arpão deve estar submerso ao ser usado. Noutros estados não se especifica, mas a prática segura e limpa é caçar sempre submerso.
