The pyramids stand about 3 m proud and hold sheepshead, mangrove snapper and summer red snapper. Cobia is game fish here: pole-and-line only.

SpainFrom Rockport this is a boat trip: the north wall of Aransas Pass, San Jose side, armour stone stepping down to 4-9 m. Fish the rising tide, when the pass clears. Sheepshead, mangrove snapper and black drum live in the rock; red drum, spotted seatrout, snook and tarpon are protected in Texas.
Google MapsThe nearest Gulf access to Rockport, about 21 km south in 6 m. Sheepshead and flounder on the granite; the pass runs hard on the ebb, so work it at slack water.

US spearfishing law is state-by-state. License, spearable species, powerhead rules and distances vary; federal sanctuaries (Gray's Reef, the Keys, Flower Garden Banks) ban spearfishing. Always confirm with the state agency and local ordinances.
